How to Safely Wash a Wrapped Vehicle
Vinyl needs a slightly different routine than paint, especially around edges and seams.
Hand washing technique
Wash by hand with a pH-neutral, vinyl-safe shampoo and a soft mitt, working top to bottom. Wipe along edges and seams rather than across them to avoid lifting. Rinse thoroughly, soap residue dries visible on matte and satin films.
Pressure washer distance and angle
A pressure washer is safe when used correctly: keep the nozzle at least 12 inches from the surface, stay under roughly 1,200–1,500 PSI, and never spray directly into seams or edges. Angled spray across panels is fine; focused spray at a lifted edge is how damage starts.
Products that damage vinyl
Avoid solvent-based cleaners, abrasive polishes, and waxes with petroleum distillates, they can stain, cloud, or soften the film. Bug and tar removers should be vinyl-safe formulas only, tested on an inconspicuous area first.
Caring for matte and satin finishes
Matte and satin films must never be polished or waxed, anything that adds gloss creates shiny patches that can't be reversed. Use only cleaners labeled safe for matte finishes, and blot rather than scrub at stubborn contamination.
